Welcome to Grand Turk Cruise Port

Grand Turk Cruise Port (Turks & Caicos)

Grand Turk is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. My initial reaction on my first visit to the Grand Turk Cruise Port was, “hmm, this looks like paradise”. After that, I stood silent for five minutes just taking deep breaths and enjoying the scenery. And what a lovely scenery it was.

Firstly, upon disembarking the ship, you see the welcome sign for Grand Turk. Now lets take a quick tour.

Time for a swim

Secondly, once you see the welcome sign, you will see the white sands of the gorgeous SunRay Beach. above all, if you do nothing else I encourage you to be a beach bum and take a quick swim. In other words , this must be at the top of the to do list.

Thirdly, is the swimming pool. Really you cannot miss it. The pool is very large and inviting. Additionally, the pool is equipped with private cabanas (with waiter service). I believe these are by reservation. Check and let me know.

Shopping

Another thing to mention in the Grand Turk Cruise Port, is the attractive range of souvenir shops, art galleries, jewellery stores and much more. For this reason, there is a lot to choose from, so you a bound to find a gift for everyone on you list or for yourself. For instance, Harley Davidson, Diamonds International, Ron John Surf Shop and much more.

Splash Down Memorial

Another worthy mention and one of my favourites, is the Splash Down Memorial of John Glenn. Have you ever watched the movie “Hidden Figures”?. Well, the movie is based on the female mathematicians who were instrumental in the Space Race. Additionally, the movie depicts Astronaut John Glenn splashing down off the coast of Grand Turk after becoming the first American to orbit the earth three times.

Furthermore, the memorial area gives the history of the space race, the mission, the splash down and more. The highlight is the statue of John, Glenn and a replica of the “Friendship Seven” space capsule from John’s mission.

Humpback Whale Statue and Beach Area

Also, if you keep walking past the memorial, there is a statue of a humpback whale on a secluded beach. The statue depicts a breaching hump back whale. This is in reference to the whale watching that is done in Grand Turk during the winter months. And this is where I spent most of the day. Because it was a perfectly sunny day, the beach chairs were out and there were only 3 other persons on the beach, it was the perfect place to unwind.

To sum up, the Grand Turk Cruise Port is very convenient, easy to navigate and has several options for relaxing, shopping and eating. Below, I will share with you a few photos while Grand Turk Port sometime in 2018. Enjoy.
